When we are stressed or sad, confused or overwhelmed, it is easy forget the truths spoken by Christ. As the apostles observed what happened through Jesus’ trial, flogging, death and burial, it became difficult to remember that Jesus had predicted all of this.
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. (Matthew 16:21 NIV)
My encouragement to you on this Throwback Thursday is to go back to the teachings of Jesus – His words of comfort, of promise, and of hope – truths that are easy to forget when we face the pain of loss or the stress of an overwhelming day.
