There is peace in the waiting—or there can be.
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for while they sleep he provides for those he loves. ~ Psalm 127:1-2
Did you catch the final phrasing? “For while they sleep, he provides for those he loves.” I love that alternate translation of the NIV!
The best and most long-lasting blessing that God provides does not come when we labor or spin, but rather when we rest in peace, trusting in His provision.
When I walk with the Father and ask Him to guide me with His righteous right hand, my labor is less stressful and more directed; my rest is more complete and my trust increases.
When the Lord is the author of our labor, our waiting on His provision will be more peaceful.
