An elder in Baton Rouge once told me, "Primary function and secondary function.  You have to remember which is which."  His words of wisdom as an elder and an engineer have stuck with me and have become a helpful filter when I feel overwhelmed by my responsibilities with Iron Rose Sister Ministries.

The truth is that we have multiple primary functions that I currently spearhead.  And each of these have their respective tasks, objectives, and follow-up responsibilities.  I do not want to neglect any of them.  But I cannot do all of them.

Even in our first year of existence, it is fair to say that IRSM has seasons of speaking, writing, promotion, communication, and fund-raising.  For the past two months, I have been in a season of writing and research for the second book so that we can obtain the right contract with a traditional publishing company and continue to produce solid materials and resources for women and women's ministries.

Starting at the end of this month, we will begin a season of travel: speaking engagements, booths promoting the ministry, etc.  My primary function will no longer be on the writing, but will rather be on the speaking, promotion, and communication - for a season.

Primary function and secondary function.  Please join me in prayer that I can keep those priorities in order and not become overwhelmed by them all.

What primary function / secondary function do you need to clarify in this season of your life?

I have been blessed with a very supportive family.  The most recent evidence of this is the fact that the only two people who have officially signed up for a time slot for the Prayer-a-thon next Tuesday are my parents.  Their unwavering support through prayer, through encouraging words, financial support, book edits… really in more ways than I can enumerate.

For their support, I am eternally grateful.

I also covet your support for the ministry and for the Prayer-a-thon on Tuesday, March 4th.  Even if you are unable to commit to finding people to pledge $1 per minute for the time you have signed up to pray, please sign up for a 15 minute slot and pledge to pray!

You can comment on Facebook or on this post with the time slot that is most convenient for you, or you can sign up through the prayer-a-thon page on the website.

On the website, I have provided a list of the specific things we will all be lifting up in prayer at that time.

Thank you!
