Taque is a mother of five from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela - a faithful sister who I had not seen for at least ten years. What a joy to see her last weekend at the Eastern Venezuelan Women's Conference at a camp in Caripe, Venezuela, with 254 other women in attendance.
On Friday, when we all arrived, Taque and I were able to catch up about the many things God has done in our lives over the years and were encouraged to see each other's faithfulness. She also updated me on her children and asked for specific prayers for one of them.
However, what touched me the most was the conversation we shared on Saturday night. I had finished giving the keynote lesson that evening and we were all visiting before heading to bed. Taque approached me with tears in her eyes and said, "You know, I wasn't going to tell you this, but I almost didn't come this weekend. I didn't really want to come, but at the last minute, I felt like God was urging me to come, so I did. Tonight, during your lesson, you shared something that made me know why I definitely needed to be here. Thank you for allowing God to use you to speak to me."
Now I was the one with tears in my eyes. I thanked her and told her that if I was in Venezuela for no other reason this week, it was to have shared that one message with her. I asked her to pray that God will continue to use me to encourage and speak to others through me. Please join us in that prayer as well.

It’s amazing how much can be contained in a simple meal. Yesterday my aunt came to for a visit with my parents after not seeing each other for 9 years. My dad and his sister talk at least once a week and have a great relationship but how wonderful was it for them to be able to reach out and hug each other. My mom made chicken and dumplings in honor of her mother and memories of the first time my aunt met my grandmother at age 13 came flooding out. She remembered little details about my mother’s youngest sister and her independent nature. She may not have remembered the chicken and dumplings but she remembered the most important part. The memories.
