Over the weekend, the Pope gave a speech about the vocation and mission of women. It’s interesting that his speech was during the same weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to be one of the speakers for the International Women’s Conference in Houston, Texas. There were over 400 women present from 14 countries! What a blessing!
I’ll share more tomorrow about the International Women’s Conference, but what I want to highlight on this Makeover Monday is something the Pope said about the difference between service and servitude. I am not endorsing everything the Pope says, teaches, or believes, but I do believe there is a difference between those two words, those two attitudes, that can make a big difference in our daily Christian walk.
Matthew 20:28 says that “Jesus came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” When you serve your family, your spouse, your friends, or in the church, do you have the attitude of blessing others through service or do you see it as servitude? Do you treat others with grace and gratefulness when they serve you or an attitude of entitlement? Let’s makeover our attitude toward service!
