When we are stressed or sad, confused or overwhelmed, it is easy forget the truths spoken by Christ. As the apostles observed what happened through Jesus’ trial, flogging, death and burial, it became difficult to remember that Jesus had predicted all of this.
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. (Matthew 16:21 NIV)
My encouragement to you on this Throwback Thursday is to go back to the teachings of Jesus – His words of comfort, of promise, and of hope – truths that are easy to forget when we face the pain of loss or the stress of an overwhelming day.
All week, I have felt an excited anticipation of the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday. Thankfully, I don’t have to wait until Sunday to rejoice in that good news. He is risen! Just as He said.
I pray that you can wake up to the resurrection today. May it bring you hope and fill you with joy in the promise of new life in Christ, made possible by His death, burial, and resurrection.
