Whether an insight from Scripture, a random fact about our family history, or the types of trees found in the backyard, my Granddad has always a wealth of knowledge to share and makes sure you know that “it will be on the test.” Many of the Bible questions he shares will be, as he says, “on the final exam.”

I’m glad that I won’t be graded by my score on a test when I reach heaven, but I am grateful that God’s grace is sufficient for me and that His power is made perfect in my weakness (or my bad memory). I’m also grateful for my granddad’s desire to share his insights from Scripture.
I’m not sure what we are discussing in this picture that was taken more than 30 years ago, but on this Throwback Thursday, I’m glad that the contents of that conversation will not be on the test.
Who has the last word? What remains and holds true when it is all said and done? What cuts through Satan’s lies when they fill our minds and hearts, hindering us from the full and abundant life that Jesus offers?
I am pleased to announce that God has led me in a new direction for the second book, Who has the Last Word?, after the snag we faced of a shared expression of promise with Proverbs 31 Ministries. Please join me in praying over these promises straight from Scripture that reinforce the subtitle of the book, “Cutting through Satan’s Lies with the Truth of God’s Word.”
“All other things shall cease, but these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.” When we embrace truth, we abound in faith, hope, and love - the abundant life that Jesus offers, but Satan tries to steal and destroy (John 10, I Cor. 13, I Thes. 1:2-3, Rom. 5:1-8, II Pet. 1:2).
