Sometimes our bodies tell on us. We have eaten too much sugar. We are hyped-up on caffeine. We haven’t eaten all day. We exercised our heart out yesterday and the muscles are screaming today.
My body is telling on me and the fact that I have been on the road, literally and figuratively, for the past month. I am fighting a cluster of migraines and last night, as a result of the aura, I couldn’t see to read, write, or function. I put myself to bed and prayed for a better day today.
I have felt a little better today, but I was reminded on this Makeover Monday with a Migraine that we all have to take care of ourselves. It may not look like a Makeover on What Not to Wear, but a touch of mascara in the morning, a short nap in the afternoon, or getting to bed at a decent time can make a world of a difference.
How can you take care of your physical self today?
Taque is a mother of five from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela - a faithful sister who I had not seen for at least ten years. What a joy to see her last weekend at the Eastern Venezuelan Women's Conference at a camp in Caripe, Venezuela, with 254 other women in attendance.
On Friday, when we all arrived, Taque and I were able to catch up about the many things God has done in our lives over the years and were encouraged to see each other's faithfulness. She also updated me on her children and asked for specific prayers for one of them.
However, what touched me the most was the conversation we shared on Saturday night. I had finished giving the keynote lesson that evening and we were all visiting before heading to bed. Taque approached me with tears in her eyes and said, "You know, I wasn't going to tell you this, but I almost didn't come this weekend. I didn't really want to come, but at the last minute, I felt like God was urging me to come, so I did. Tonight, during your lesson, you shared something that made me know why I definitely needed to be here. Thank you for allowing God to use you to speak to me."
Now I was the one with tears in my eyes. I thanked her and told her that if I was in Venezuela for no other reason this week, it was to have shared that one message with her. I asked her to pray that God will continue to use me to encourage and speak to others through me. Please join us in that prayer as well.
